El estrés

El estrés es el proceso que se pone en marcha cuando una persona percibe una situación o acontecimiento como amenazante o desbordante de sus recursos. Muy a menudo los hechos que lo ponen en marcha son los que están relacionados con cambios, exigiendo a la persona un sobreesfuerzo y por tanto poniendo en peligro su bienestar personal.

Pero ojo al dato! En ocasiones su presencia puede ser adaptativa dándonos la oportunidad de poner en marcha nuevos recursos personales fortaleciendo nuestra autoestima y asegurándonos éxitos futuros.

¿Cuándo aparece el estado subjetivo de malestar o distrés?, ¿Cuáles son los factores que hacen que un mismo hecho pueda ser muy estresante para algunos y menos estresante para otros?

Mi forma de evaluar un suceso y/o mis habilidades de afrontamiento: mientras alguien, por ejemplo puede considerar la maternidad como una amenaza, para otro puede suponer un reto personal.
Mi manera de hacer frente a las dificultades: negar el problema, aplazarlo o poner en marcha conductas de autocontrol, por citar sólo algunas, conlleva distintas consecuencias en la percepción del estrés.
Mis Características personales: las personas tenemos diferentes estilos de reaccionar ante las circunstancias que demandan un esfuerzo de nuestra parte, son rasgos que si bien no pueden considerarse como definitivos, sí es cierto que se van consolidando con la acumulación de experiencias
Mi apoyo social: el número y calidad de relaciones que el individuo mantiene puede servir como amortiguadores o amplificadores de los acontecimientos potencialmente estresantes, así como la habilidad para pedir consejo o ayuda.

Suele ser en nuestro ambiente social donde aparecen la mayoría de situaciones que provocan estrés aunque nuestro ambiente físico también puede ser una fuente para ésto. Pueden ser fuente de estrés aquellos acontecimientos vitales que producen cambios así como pequeñas contrariedades diarias que afectan cotidianamente.
